Radiation Oncology

This department treats about 200 patient’s daily using telecobalt therapy and HDR brachytherapy. About 65% of all cancer patients attending this institute avail radiation therapy during their course of treatment. External Beam therapy is delivered by one telecobalt units (Theratron-780C) from 8:00 AM to late night in three shifts on all working days. Multiple-fields, wedge,block and tangential fields at 80cm SSD are practiced as required. Now the department is well equipped with Linear Accelerator and CT-Simulator. More than thousand patients were treated successfully with most sophisticated treatment modalities like VMAT and IMRT. PG-studies in radiotherapy leading to MD (RT) is available in the institute since 1973. Six PG students admit every year for their MD degree. At present, sixteen PGstudents are continuing their post-graduate studies in this institute. Post graduate seminars are organized twice a month.
