Gastroenterology

The endoscopy unit of this institute has been functioning since the arrival of the endoscopy system in 2020; however, the Gastroenterology department formally commenced operations following the recruitment of its first full-time DM doctors, nurses, volunteers, and social workers at the centre. As the State Nodal Centre for Palliative Care, our centre coordinates with the 30 satellite centres established at the state's district headquarter hospitals to offer palliative treatment. There are also plans to strengthen this department by creating separate faculty posts, thereby paving the way to open a postgraduate (PG) course in Palliative Medicine. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bagchi-Karunashraya Palliative Care Center has been signed to provide free, home-based palliative care across the state.
