Objectives:
To undertake basic, applied and statistical research in various specialties of oncology.
Generation of technical and scientific man-power in collaboration with other Medical Colleges of the State.
- To organize and conduct under-graduate, post-graduate and doctoral training courses for medical personnel.
- To organize and conduct PG & doctoral courses in Radiation Physics, Immunology, Bio-Chemistry, Radiation Pathology, Radio-Biology, Cyto-Genetics, Cell-Biology, Molecular Biology and Cancer Epidemiology.
- To organize paramedical courses in Laboratory science, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy, Radiodiagnosis, Cytology, Nursing and Cancer epidemiology.
- To train medical professionals in Oncology.
To provide modern and advanced clinical services to cancer patients in collaboration with the Medical Colleges of the state.
To institute professorship, readership, fellowship and other teaching & research positions for the above purposes.
To design preventive services for the General Health Care, Delivery System for extension to other areas.
To conduct lectures, seminars, study groups, workshops, conferences on problems related to cancer.
To organize hospital based tumor-registry on modern lines.
To institute and maintain an up-to-date library, related to various specialties of cancer.
To publish research papers, treaties, books and periodicals & other literatures relating to various specialties of cancer.
To work in collaboration with other medical institutions, Health Service Department, other Universities, aid agencies and institutions of repute and to co-ordinate with other societies in the pursuit of any of the above objects.
To perform all such acts as may be necessary or appropriate or incidental for achievement of any or all of the above objects.
Power & Functions:
To provide post-graduate and super specialization teaching and conduct of research in the field of Oncology and other allied sciences, including interdisciplinary fields of physical and biological sciences
To conduct new methods of medical education in order to arrive at satisfactory standard of such education as directed by MCI/NMC from time to time
To prescribe courses and curricula for under-graduate, post-graduate and super specialization studies
To give training to teachers
To admit students to the various courses of studies of the Institute and to conduct examinations or tests and lay down conditions in respect thereof
To hold examinations and grant titles in under-graduate and post-graduate medical education as may be prescribed by the affiliated University and /or competent body
To receive grants, gifts, donations including benefactions, bequests and transfers of properties, both movable and immovable, from donors, benefactors, testators, or transferors, as the case may be
To acquire, hold, manage and dispose of any property, movable or immovable including trust and endowment properties
To co-operate or collaborate with other Institutes, Universities or authorities within or outside India in conduct of research and higher education in the field of Oncology in the manner as may be prescribed
To create teaching, administrative, ministerial and other posts as are necessary for carrying out the functions of the Institute with prior concurrence of the Government
To provide for management and treatment of the cancer patients in its hospital
To provide modern and advanced clinical services to cancer patients
To design and extend general health care and preventive health services to the community
To conduct lectures, seminars, study groups, workshops, conferences in the domains related to cancer
To organize cancer registry in the line with prescribed bodies both at national and international level
To publish research papers, treatises, books, periodical, e-publications and other literature relating to the activities of the Institute
To do such other acts and things as may be necessary, incidental and conducive in furtherance of all or any of the objectives of the Institute.
